Naked basics 2

We can confidently say that Urban Decay is one of our favourite brands out there. Not as expensive as the top premium brands and not a drugstore brand its the perfect middle ground to venture into. So when we heard that they were coming out with a new basics palette and shadow brush to match we couldn't wait to get our hands on them.

We heard from our local UD counter that the palette was to be released on the 1st of October but as we were just in the states, we all know that they get the releases before we do here in the UK so we were lucky enough to be able to pick these up nearly a month in advance.

So we thought we would give you all a first look at the palette and give you the low-down on what we think of it. Now in comparison to the first basics palette that UD released this one is much more cooler in tone. Five of the shades in this palette are brand new, never before seen! The shadows in this palette are just as pigmented, creamy and blendable as all the other naked palettes. These neutral colours are perfect for using alone to create a muted smokey eye, or as a base for a more intense look. By taking a shade such as stark or frisk and buffing that into your crease as the first step in your smokey eye, it lays the ground work for your look and helps with blending later on.

The shade skimp has a subtle satin finish so works perfectly as a highlight shade for the inner corner of your eye or on the brow bone. The matte shades of  both the Naked Basics palettes are also perfect for the more mature woman. A matte finish is more complimentary than a shimmer or glitter is, as they are more likely to settle into fine lines.

Now the original Naked, 2 & 3 palettes all come with a double-ended shadow brush included, but the first naked basics palette never. So coincided with the release of the second basics palette a brush has been created. One end is just the standard blending brush thats the same as the brushes in the other naked palettes, but the other side is a short smudging style brush, perfect for smudging out that liner, or buffing shadow along the bottom lash line.

If there is one thing that we can end this on... it's go and buy them both when they are released. You will not regret it and they will become such staples in your collection.
